Brian is a 2014 graduate of Shepherd University with a Bachelor of Science in Recreation and Leisure Studies with a Concentration in Sports Communications. In a passion that dates all the way back to his youth, Brian is an avid sports fan and has been a life-long follower of Washington D.C. sports.
As a high schooler, he realized that sports media was his calling and joined the school newspaper as a sports writer and began his own sports blog, The Skinny On Sports. Along with those endeavors, he also became "The Voice of the Hornets," and was the arena announcer for all of Herndon's home junior varsity/freshman football, men's and women's varsity basketball and men's and women's varsity soccer games.
Throughout college, Brian remained active in sports media. Early in his freshman year, he joined 89.7 WSHC, Shepherd University's radio station, as a play-by-play broadcaster, and he continued that role through the end of his education in 2014. Along the way, he broadcasted football, basketball and baseball. As a writer, he continued his growth as a beat reporter for the school newspaper, The Shepherd Picket. As a sophomore, he was promoted to the role of Sports Editor.
After his sophomore year, he left the paper and moved his career to the digital realm. He wrote for online publications such as Beyond Sports Network, Rant Sports, Yahoo Sports and District Sports Page. Primarily, Brian covered Washington D.C. sports. Due to his ability to network on social media, he made several radio show appearances on shows in Memphis, Tampa, Cleveland and Israel.
To conclude his education, Brian was an in-season intern for the Washington Redskins media department during the 2014 season. Following his graduation in Dec. of 2014, he joined Redskins.com in a part-time/freelance capacity. Nowadays, he continues that role while also writing content for his own blog and is actively looking for other opportunities to work on and continue his craft and passion.
